It’s the season of love. The air is thick with love and sickly couples. Everywhere you go there are advertisements for flowers and cards. People are giddy organising either their date or their night on the prowl. As a female who has a boyfriend I am actually a touch more laid back about Valentines Day than some – but that doesn’t mean I don’t embrace the season of love! Here I am going to share with you my nail art design to help you get into the Valentines Day mood!
If you know me, you’ll know I am a nail art addict. And one of my favourite trends of nail art is the ombré look. So, naturally I went for the trusty pink ombré look to bring in the love fest! I started with a lighter colour at the top and gradually got darker as they got closer to the nail tip.
I LOVE BarryM and Models Own as nail brands. They are so trusty and durable so they are always my go to brands!
To achieve this look I first start my filing and buffing my nails. This helps them keep in good condition and stops nicks happening that would spoil the look. My first step is to apply some base coat and nail hardner. My favourites are BarryM or Sally Hansen – both of which can be found at your local drugstore for a nice little price. I then apply a matte white polish onto my nails. I find the BarryM matte White is the best one as it is thin enough to work as a base.
Once that has fully dried I apply a very very light layer of the lighter shade of pink I am using to achieve the ombré look. In this instance I chose to use Models Own pink as the paler pink as I feel it gives a good contrast with the darker and deeper pinks. Once the thin layer of pink is completely dry I grab my trusty household sponge. I only use a very small segment of the sponge – not a lot is needed at all really. It is key to get a good consistency and amount of the three nail polish shades next to each other onto the sponge. It is important to layer the colours so that they touch – this will help the ombré look set on your nails and look as if they have blended together.
And that’s it really. Just sit and wait for them to dry. This look is so simple but so effective. I always get lots of lovely comments on how special and intricate it looks! So, why not try this look out this Valentine’s Day!
