This is my last installment in the series of How To Get Into The Christmas Spirit. If you haven’t read the first two posts, you can find the first one here and the second one here. So, if you aren’t already in the Christmas mood (HOW!?) then settle in, take some time out and enjoy my final post just before the big day!
So, firsts things first, what’s Christmas without the smells, tastes and feelings of Christmas. It is an all encompassing time of year! I find that sometimes I’ll be walking around and will smell something that will instantly transport me back to Christmas morning with all my family as a child. The human senses are so important to feel the full effect of something – especially Christmas. Stay with me, this is going somewhere! Good news people!
The miracle workers over at Yankee Candle have formulated so many gorgeous scented candles that smell just like Christmas. I know sometimes scented candles can be overly intensive and headache inducing – but these AMAZING Yankee Candles are just to die for! They do lots of different flavours especially for Christmas. These include gorgeous scents like Christmas Cookie (my personal favorite), Christmas Morning, Christmas Eve and Snowflake Cookie. The amount of diversity is huge so there’s lots to chose from! If you’re still not in the Christmas Spirit (Come on, guys, you gotta be almost there by now!?) then please invest in one of these amazing candles! You can buy them here.
Another great way to get into the Spirit of Christmas is to put on some Christmas songs. If I had my way, I would pull out my trusty Christmas playlist just after Fireworks Night – but not everyone is the same. There are so many classic Christmas songs out there these days, both classic twists on hymns to the newer pop songs. I know some people think they’re over done but I absolutely LOVE Christmas songs! Whack out the classic Wham! and Noddy and have a little dance around the kitchen – better yet, poor yourself a Snow Ball or Buck’s Fizz and let go of your inhibitions and enjoy Christmas!
The final, sure fire way to get you into the Christmas spirit is to snuggle up, get a blanket and some pop corn and put on all your favorite Christmas films. And if this doesn’t work, there’s no hope for you! Get a Bah Humbug hat and hate Christmas!
Who doesn’t love a good movie day? When it’s freezing outside and you’re slowly getting poorer and poorer from buying too many presents. Yes, the classic Christmas films are cheesy and over done – but they’re reliable and comfortable. It’s like coming home after a long day at work to slip into your comfiest pair of fluffy slippers. Home.
Home Alone, The Santa Clause, It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf (my personal fave!), Little Women, Happy Feet, The Polar Express.
There’s SO many to choose from! Treat yourself to a full day on the sofa, get your snacks within reaching distance and have a lovely festive drink to hand. AND relax, it’s a hectic time, of course, but that’s half the fun!
Merry Christmas to all my gorgeous followers, I hope you get all you wished for and spent time around the people you love!
